Yazaki Innovations, Inc. has announced the 2026 U.S. launch of PreFab Home Wiring™, a fully engineered, prefabricated residential electrical system designed to replace traditional on-site rough-in installation. Manufactured in an ISO-certified Texas facility and built directly from builders’ plans, the load-tested, code-compliant assemblies aim to reduce labor demands, accelerate timelines, and improve quality control. The system has already been piloted in three Florida homes in collaboration with D.R. Horton and Strada Services.
Yazaki Innovations, Inc., a subsidiary of Yazaki Corporation, announced on February 12, 2026, that it will introduce its PreFab Home Wiring™ system to the U.S. residential construction market. The solution offers homebuilders a streamlined and more efficient alternative to conventional on-site electrical rough-in methods.
Reimagining Residential Electrical Installation
PreFab Home Wiring™ is designed to respond to some of the most pressing challenges in the housing industry, including labor shortages, rising construction costs, and the demand for improved quality control. Instead of assembling electrical systems piece by piece at the job site, builders receive fully pre-engineered, load-tested, and code-compliant electrical assemblies ready for installation.
Each system is tailored directly from the builder’s construction drawings and manufactured at an ISO-certified facility in Texas. The assemblies arrive pre-measured, pre-cut, stripped, and clearly labeled — significantly reducing installation time and minimizing potential on-site errors.
Code Compliance and Inspection Efficiency
The system fully complies with NFPA NEC 70 standards as well as applicable state and local building codes. Clear, color-coded installation diagrams simplify the inspection process and help accelerate overall project timelines. By shifting much of the electrical assembly work into a controlled manufacturing environment, PreFab Home Wiring™ enhances consistency and quality assurance.
Proven Performance and Industry Collaboration
Yazaki Innovations has already completed the first residential installations of its prefabricated wiring system in three homes in Florida, in partnership with D.R. Horton and Strada Services. These pilot projects mark the company’s initial step into the U.S. housing sector.
The launch builds upon Yazaki’s 85 years of experience designing and manufacturing automotive wiring harnesses, along with more than three decades of supplying wiring systems to Japan’s residential construction market.
Debut at the International Builders’ Show
PreFab Home Wiring™ will be presented at the International Builders’ Show (IBS), taking place February 17–19 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Attendees can visit South Hall Booth #S9077 to see a full rough-in installation demonstration. The product will also be featured in the IBS New Product Zone near the main exhibit entrance.
Company leadership and product specialists will be available onsite for interviews and technical discussions.
PreFab Home Wiring™ – FAQ
What is PreFab Home Wiring™?
PreFab Home Wiring™ is a comprehensive rough-in electrical solution for 15-amp and 20-amp circuits in new residential construction. It is designed to accelerate installation, lower labor requirements, and enhance overall build quality. The system consists of factory-assembled and clearly labeled wire harnesses that simplify the electrical rough-in phase, allowing builders and electricians to complete projects faster and more efficiently.
Why choose PreFab Home Wiring™?
PreFab Home Wiring™ is developed by Yazaki Innovations, part of Yazaki — the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive wire harnesses, with more than 80 years of industry expertise and $16 billion in annual sales. The company has also produced residential wiring harnesses for the Japanese housing market for over three decades. This deep manufacturing experience ensures a high-quality, precision-engineered product designed to increase jobsite productivity while reducing time and costs.
How does PreFab simplify the rough-in process?
PreFab Home Wiring™ redefines the traditional rough electrical installation by shifting much of the labor to a controlled manufacturing environment.
- Includes all 15A and 20A non-dedicated rough-in wiring in a complete plug-and-play package.
- Delivered on a pallet as a full-home solution.
- Each room’s outlets, switches, and fixtures are organized into individual harnesses.
- Every wire leg is pre-measured, labeled, color-coded, cut, and stripped to the correct length.
- Comes with clear, step-by-step installation diagrams in both English and Spanish.
- Fully built and tested off-site at an ISO-certified manufacturing facility in El Paso, Texas.
Who is this system designed for?
The PreFab Home Wiring™ Solution is intended for residential builders and electrical contractors working on new construction projects, including single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, and condominiums.
How does it differ from traditional rough wiring?
Conventional rough-in wiring requires electricians to manually pull, measure, cut, and terminate wiring directly on-site — a process that can be labor-intensive and time-consuming. With PreFab Home Wiring™, assemblies arrive pre-configured and ready for installation. Installers simply position the harnesses, route them accordingly, and complete final connections.
The process begins when builders submit their model plans. Yazaki provides a takeoff estimate and then engineers a customized PreFab Home Wiring™ system tailored specifically to those plans.
Will it reduce project costs?
The PreFab system delivers cost savings through cumulative efficiency improvements across multiple areas of a project. These benefits can include reduced labor during rough and trim stages, lower material handling costs, minimized rework, and streamlined administrative processes. While savings vary by project, similar systems have achieved efficiency improvements of up to 30% in the Japanese housing market.
Does the system require UL certification?
All individual components used within the PreFab Home Wiring™ system — including junction boxes and wiring — are UL-listed and code compliant. The fully assembled harness system itself does not require separate UL certification because it consists of pre-approved, certified materials that meet applicable standards.
